IAN CASE - Inspector Lestrade

Ian is an award-winning actor, director, producer, and arts administrator from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

A graduate of the University of Victoria Phoenix Theatre department, Ian was General Manager of Victoria’s Theatre Inconnu from 1991-94, co-founded and administered the Greater Victoria Shakespeare Festival in ’94 and ’95, founded Giggling Iguana Productions in 1998 (a company he is still Artistic Producer for today) and was General Manager of Victoria’s acclaimed Intrepid Theatre from 2003 to 2012. Since 2012 Ian has worked as Director of UVic’s University Centre Farquhar Auditorium, and has also been Director of Ceremonies and Events for the University of Victoria since 2014.

As a fundraising consultant Ian has worked with companies like Island Repertory Company, Real Canadian Mounted Productions, Theatre SKAM and Theatre Inconnu, and he has also worked as publicist for Langham Court Theatre, Musica Victoria, Victoria Operatic Society, and the Kate Rubin Theatre & Drama Studio. From 2010 to 2015 Ian served as President of the ProArt - The Professional Arts Alliance of Greater Victoria, and he has developed and taught a course on Financial Management for Cultural Organizations through the University of Victoria.

Ian’s recent stage acting credits include the Narrator in Lest We Forget for the Victoria Symphony, Mr. Gardiner in Pride and Prejudice at Langham Court Theatre, the Narrator in Henry V for the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy at the Royal Theatre, the Narrator in The Composer is Dead/Peter and the Wolf for the Victoria Symphony, Hephaestus in Influence for Intrepid Theatre, Richard III in Richard III for the Victoria Shakespeare Society, Gabriel Utterson in The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde for Giggling Iguana Productions, Alan Campbell in The Picture of Dorian Gray for Giggling Iguana Productions, Jim Key in Beautiful Jim Key for Intrepid Theatre’s Uno Festival of Solo Performance, Roderick Usher in The Fall of the House of Usher for Intrepid Theatre/Giggling Iguana Productions, and Henry in War of the Worlds for Theatre Inconnu.

He has played Dr. Watson in Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Speckled Band and Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Sussex Vampire, both for Giggling Iguana Productions, Dr. Petya Panic in Zertrummerüng for Theatre SKAM, and Sir Frederick Treves in The Elephant Man for Theatre Inconnu. On film Ian can be seen as the Monster in Clocktower Images’s Frankenstein, Dr. Seward in The Fish Show’s Dracula: Lord of the Damned, and “Cafeteria Guy” in Pastiche Productions’s Sometimes a Hero.

As a director and/or producer, Ian has been responsible for hundreds of presentations over the past 25 years, including Winnie the Pooh and Tales of the 100 Acre Wood for the Kaleidoscope Family Theatre Festival, Ian Fleming’s Casino Royale for Outpost 31, Much Ado About Nothing, Richard III, and Julius Caesar for the Victoria Shakespeare Society, Gormenghast, Waiting for Godot, Macbeth, and The Elephant Man for William Head on Stage, The War of 1812 for a Random Selection of Chairs, The Life of Galileo for Lagnham Court Theatre, Hedda Gabler, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Merchant of Venice, Brand, Woyzeck, and Bent for Theatre Inconnu, The Dispossessed for Ship of Fools Productions, and The Killer’s Muse for the Open Space New Theatre Series.

Ian was named Arts Leader of the Year by CFAX1070 in 2010, Favourite Director and Hardest Working Person in Local Theatre at Monday Magazine’s “M” Awards in 2009, and Biggest Supporter of Local Theatre at the “M” Awards in 2011 and 2012.

Ian Case will play Inspector Lestrade in The Doctor’s Case.
